Serving as a city councilman for the First Ward, Eric was known for his unwavering commitment to the community and his refusal to back down from challenges. A longtime member and position holder of the UAW union, Eric dedicated his life to service, fighting for workers’ rights and the well-being of Flint’s residents.

Through advocacy, community engagement, Resources and targeted support services, we strive to ensure that Flint’s seniors have access to the resources, care, and opportunities they deserve, fostering a thriving, resilient, and connected community for all.”
Councilman Eric B. Mays was a charismatic and knowledgeable leader who represented Flint’s First Ward with passion and dedication. Known for his favorite saying, “Point of order,” he was a respected and beloved figure among the residents. Despite facing challenges and opposition, his commitment to justice and community welfare never wavered.
Councilman Mays passed away on February 24, 2024, but his spirit and dedication live on through the Eric Mays Foundation. The foundation was formed to honor his legacy and to ensure that his efforts to support and uplift the community continue.
